Saba, Keeping Priorities Straight
Saba is keeping their priorities straight – with a focus last week in their Annual Saba Summit on people connections, learning, and relationships. There is no doubt that integrated talent management is important, I’ve studied the positive effects of true integration efforts for years – but many organizations underestimate the importance of Learning while focusing on the bigger picture. Somewhere in the last few years, the overall relevance of the market for developing and connecting people has been lost in the chatter about talent management and human capital assets. Read more…

Will Vertical Become the new Vogue?
This week I had two service experiences that were worlds apart – One was a very nasty US Airways supervisor that ruffled even my easy going travel composure, and the other was an exceptional waitress in a little restaurant in the Charleston, SC airport. Both employees deal daily with stressed and rushed customers, and both employees, I admit, have very difficult jobs. Their attitudes had a direct impact on my own mood which of course will have a direct impact on my buying decisions for the future. As an industry, front line service professionals are rarely given their due for the impact they have on an organization’s bottom line. Read more…

A Letter to the Talent and Learning Vendors: From Your Concerned Buyer
As we wrap up January, mergers and acquisitions and new product launches are heating up – Two this week that may have an impact on the Brandon Hall audience include:
Mentoring: Who holds the knowledge within your organization?
In every company there is a person or two that employees are drawn to when they have a knowledge or skill gap. They are the people who pass on the motivations behind previous decisions or share the value of certain best practices within an organization. They play the role of mentors, historians, or change agents and their insights are sought from cubicle to cubicle, mentioned at the water-cooler, and scratched on post-it-notes beside computers. But their importance is often overlooked and underestimated by an organization’s leadership. Read more…

Brandon Hall Group is pleased to present this Webinar using GoToWebinar® from Citrix®Online.

Organizations routinely leverage the efficiencies of technology platforms for their learning and development initiatives, but many of these same organizations continue to use manual processes to manage their talent. As a result, there’s little opportunity for technology to easily align training with organizational performance.
Learning and talent management are inseparable, and managing them in two silos means missed opportunities for increased effectiveness.
Join Stacey Harris of Brandon Hall Group and Marc Blumenthal of Intelladon as they discuss the competitive advantages of integrating learning and talent management using a single technology platform. In this webinar, you’ll learn:
- Innovative methods for connecting workforce development to workforce performance
- Strategies for developing a value proposition that emphasizes the benefits of an integrated technology approach
- How companies have successfully integrated learning and talent management into a single technology platform

SAP and SuccessFactors, Was a Weekend Announcement Really Necessary?
If you didn’t see the announcement this Saturday about SaaS based Talent Management suite SuccessFactors being purchased by ERP SAP for $3.4Billion, then you aren’t one of the small percentage of HR professionals and techies who follow the twitter feeds and news blogs even on the weekends. Instead you are a normal HR and learning leader trying desperately to get your work caught up before the holidays, and you found out on Monday like the rest of the world.
Engaging Your Workforce: Connecting Vision, Talent, and Development Efforts
Every company wants their workers to be engaged, inspired, and working towards a common goal. But not every company has a plan for making that happen. An engaged and inspired workforce inspires people to work for your company, do business with your employees, and buy your products. How does an organization set themselves apart as a place where people want to work and that people want to work with?
